While much of what is done can be reactive - expiring contracts, operational issues, and emergencies - a true leader looks towards getting ahead of the curve by becoming strategic. Through this session, hear real stories and discover new ways to address age-old problems. Regardless of your role within your organization, procurement professionals should be seen as leaders when solving problems and proactively bringing forth new ideas. Learning Objectives: • Discover the skill sets and mindset needed to be a leader in your entity. • Follow the new Best Practices Guidelines on Cooperative Procurement • Share insights about real-life scenarios that are faced by procurement teams. Learn new strategies in contract management with a workshop scenario to help with shared decision-making. |

Speaker: Tammy Rimes, MPA Tammy Rimes served as the former Purchasing Agent for the City of San Diego, the nation's 9th largest City, during a time of tremendous challenges: the 2007 Witch Creek Fires that raged for 17 days and destroyed over 2000 homes.
Under her leadership, the city consolidated its warehouse operations, centralized all purchasing operations, and moved to a more customer-focused approach.
Now, as the new Executive Director for the National Cooperative Procurement Partners (NCPP), she is passionate about helping government clients take their cooperative strategy to the next level. |
