Plain language is an international best practice that focuses communications on the needs of the audience. By following plain language principles, you not only provide better customer service that is more accessible, you make your own work more efficient.

This session will define plain language, show lots of examples, and explain how to write clearly and effectively to meet your audience’s needs.

Brian Lieb developed Hennepin County's plain language program, one of the first and most effective in the country. He also teaches the county’s writing courses and maintains the county’s writing style guide.
